“How the f%^& do I get this sh*t off of my face?” The question being asked to no one in particular all around the country this evening. Well, here’s an idea: Triple cleanse. No, it’s not a real thing, but we’re about to make it a trend. Peep it out.
STEP 1: Start with a pre-soaked makeup remover. Chances are, your skin is pretty sensitive after all of the preservative-packed fake blood and face paint you’ve subjected it to. So, opt for a wipe that is chemical-free, like Yes To Cucumbers Face Cleaner Towelettes ($6) that are specifically designed for soothing sensitive skin. Yessss.
STEP 2: Use a cleansing balm. This is a gentle way to wash off any stubborn makeup, as a balm literally melts away dirt, mascara, and even remnants of fake blood. Balms contain soothing ingredients that will leave your skin soft, glowy, and won’t strip oils. We’re hyped on Ren Rosa Centifolia No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm ($48). It’s super gentle, and works on all skin types. Charlotte Tilbury Multi-Miracle Glow Cleanser, Mask & Balm for Baby Soft Skin ($60) is also worth the hype, especially if you use it as a mask and leave it on for 10-minutes before removing.
STEP 3: The deep cleanse. Okay, so now most of your makeup should be off. If not, go back to the towelette and wipe away the remaining eye gunk or face paint. Then finish off the three-step cleanse with a deep yet gentle wash. An oxymoron, we know. You want a gentle formula because your face has been through the ringer, but you also want something that’ll go deep into the pores because, chances are, you’ve just clogged those poor little suckers with all of your nasty preservative-packed makeup. Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser ($40) is our jam because it’s all-natural, super gentle, yet the exfoliating beads polish and clean deep into the pores.
And, now that your three-step cleanse is complete, it’s onto the rest of your nighttime skincare routine.
