The Five: Staple Skin Products

I’m starting a new section: the five! It’ll be five products that I’m obsessing over at the moment, sometimes they will be five products in a specific category (like the five for blushes), sometimes they will be completely random. It’ll always be written in first person, and, always, always, always be products that I actually use and love.

The first installment: The five: staple products in my beauty cabinet.

Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream ($55) – I have acne-prone skin and this is literally the only face cream that me and my mom (who has super dry skin) can both use — without any irritation. It’s light-as-air and feels so soothing when applied. It also gives great moisture without a greasy or slick residue. This cream is truly special, as it can be used on all skin types without fear of breakouts or irritation. Bonus: the citrus sent is delish.

Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-On ($9) – So it looks like Simple no longer makes this product, but you can still buy it on Amazon (so stock up!)… I’m super into gel eye creams after a facialist recently told me that the gel formulas would be better for me than creams (sometimes, with creams, I would get tiny bumps around my eyes – like milieu – because the cream is too thick). This roll-on version is affordable and immediately makes me look more awake. Plus, I love the ease of application. Roll and go!

Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion ($84) – Full disclosure: I don’t know if this cream actually works, but I like the way it leaves my neck and décolletage (which is where I use it) super hydrated and smooth. And, anything that promises to promote collagen rejuvenation is a win for me.

Is Clinical White Lightening Complex ($140) – A bit pricey but worth it; I’ve tried so many over-the-counter whitening products, and this one is definitely in the top five (see what I did there?). It’s hydroquinone-free but still works! It leaves my skin super glowy, and it has an amazingly light consistency that doesn’t irritate my acne-prone skin. I love this stuff!

Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser for Oily/Combination Skin ($30) – I’m always on the hunt for a good cleanser, and this one had been sitting in a cabinet for quite some time before I decided to give it a try. I have had ZERO breakouts since using it (coincidence? Maybe), and it is super gentle so I have no problem using twice a day. Usually cleansers made for oily/ combination skin types are harsh and drying — this is not. In fact, it’s entirely organic so all of the ingredients are healthy and good for you and your skin.
